Musical Instruments
I was gifted the wood from a walnut chest built in Spain in the 19th century. The wood grain was just stunning, so I built this bell-shaped walnut tenor guitar modeled on the Washburn guitars from the 1920's. The fingerboard, tail graft, and inlay on the back are veneered with ivory salvaged off of an old piano. This detail view shows one of the nail holes, which were square because all of the nails in the chest were hand-forged.
